Electricity for beach huts

Beach huts typically lack running water and mains electricity. Most people rely on gas for cooking and heating, but this can come with its own challenges.

From our experience, not everyone wants electricity in their beach hut; however, an increasing number of people do. The simplest way to have power in a beach hut is to bring it with you, which is where the portable power station shines.

Portable power stations are rugged, portable electrical storage devices that can provide both DC and AC electricity safely and conveniently. You can charge your station at home using mains power, charge it on the way via your vehicle’s alternator, or connect it to portable solar panels. Charging via mains AC power is the fastest option, with a full charge taking under an hour, while solar charging is the slowest method.

Having portable electricity in beach huts allows you to charge phones and other devices, provide light, and, depending on the size of the station, assist with cooking, heating, or powering fans. They are designed for easy handling, typically featuring integrated handles and weighing over 5 kg; larger models used for cooking can weigh double or triple that amount.

For those who use huts only for day visits, the smaller EcoFlow River range of portable power stations is generally sufficient. However, for overnight stays and preparing hot meals, the EcoFlow Delta range offers much more appropriate capacity.
