Find out how to choose the best portable power station
What is a portable power station?
A portable power station is a compact, rechargeable battery that provides a reliable power source when you’re away from traditional outlets. It’s like having a mobile power hub that can charge and run your devices, tools, and appliances – anywhere you go.
How do I choose the right power station?
Consider the total wattage of the devices you want to power and how long you need them to run. Read our How to choose a Portable Power Station guide for more information.
Can I use a power station indoors?
Yes! Unlike fuel generators, portable power stations produce no fumes and are safe to use indoors.
How do I recharge a portable power station?
Most models can be recharged via wall outlets, car chargers, or solar panels. Solar charging is ideal for off-grid use.
Can I use my portable power station whilst it is charging ?
Yes, the products are designed to be used when connected to an AC input, car outlet or solar panel.
Can I charge my portable power station with a third-party solar panel ?
Yes, all products have a universal solar charging port (usually yellow in colour) which makes it compatible with most solar panels that are 10_65V and DC 10A (Max).
Do I need solar panels?
Solar panels are optional but useful for off-grid and long-term use. They provide an eco-friendly way to recharge your power station anywhere.
What is the life span of the portable power stations ?
Our portable power stations all use LiFePO4 chemistry batteries which are the latest most stable option on the market and with appropriate care and usage we expect the products to meet your portable power needs for over 10 years.
Two of the key features to remember are battery care and storage conditions. Regular charging cycles are very important and don’t overcharge it.
Always keep your station in a cool, dry place away from extreme temperatures. Very high heat and extreme cold can degrade the battery over time, reducing its capacity and efficiency.
Can I take my portable power station on an airplane?
Generally, devices over 160 Wh will not be allowed on flights, but the key thing is to always check the specific airlines policy before you fly.
Although it is generally allowed to take small power banks (under 100 Wh) as hand luggage without having to notify the airline. any more powerful devices are not allowed or will need special approval.
Also please note that airlines are increasingly strict with there policies.
Are the EcoFlow portable power stations silent?
Compared to the fossil fuel alternatives the EcoFlow products are all ‘whisper’ quiet with substantial recent investment in developing quieter units with noise levels of under the 30-decibel level for standard use.
Generally 30 dB is equivalent to the noise of leaves rustling or the hum of a switched-on light bulb which is right at the bottom of the noise level chart.
What’s the difference between battery capacity (Wh) and power output (W)?
Watt-hours (Wh): The total energy storage capacity, which affects how long your devices can run.
Watts (W): The power output, determining which appliances the station can run at once.
Can a power station run a refrigerator?
Yes, but you’ll need a higher-capacity model. Check the wattage of your fridge and choose a power station that can handle its power requirements.
Are portable power stations sustainable?
These devices with appropriate care have a life span of over 10 years and be recharged many thousand times and so they are simply not a limited lifespan product.
Coupled with the fact that all these can be charged via solar panels means that these can be powered by an incredibly eco-friendly, clean and sustainable power source.
Are portable power stations safe?
Yes, entirely as long as they are used with an appropriate level of care.
The most important aspect is always keeping the device dry at all times to avoid potential electrocution or maintenance issues.
Also, ensure the cables from the device are as short and neat as possible so that they do not become a trip hazard.
